Trails 2024

The Trail initiative is aligned with the National Biodiversity Future Center objectives to preserve, monitor and valorise the Italian and Mediterranean Biodiversity.

After a successful first edition, the Trail was organised again in August 2024, in two days: the 9th and the 19th of August.

The Trail is an easy trek around Tovel Lake, Val di Non, Trentino. The lake is known for its beauty and is surrounded by an astonishing landscape. On top of that, it is also an important research site for the Italian Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) network.

The Trail was organised by the researcher Ulrike Obertegger (Fondazione Edmund Mach), and it takes four legs. In each of them, like episodes in a mystery novel, curiosities and secrets of the Lake are unveiled.

The informal environment of the Trail facilitates discussions and attracts tourists to join the group.

The Lake Tovel Trail was organized by the Edmund Mach Foundation, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Ville d’Anauni and of the Adamello-Brenta Park.

On the 12th and 13th of September, the first edition of this Trail took place between Monterosso and Riomaggiore, La Spezia, Liguria.

Mirroring the unique nature of this territory, stretched between the mountains and the sea, part of the Trail was dedicated to snorkeling, and part to trekking. Because of adverse weather conditions, the snorkeling part couldn’t have been fully completed, however, it was possible to do a special trek along the “Via dell’Amore” in the National Park.

The Trail was organised by ENEA (Agenzia Nazionale per le Nuove Tecnologie, l’Energia e lo Sviluppo Economico Sostenibile), sponsored by the National Park “Parco Nazionale e Area Marina Protetta delle Cinque Terre” and by Scuola di Mare.
