Sin da tempi remoti quest\u2019area \u00e8 sfruttata per la pesca e l\u2019allevamento dei molluschi. Proprio per questa importanza socio-economica, il sito \u00e8 da lungo tempo oggetto di osservazione scientifica. Le prime osservazioni documentate sugli organismi viventi all\u2019interno del bacino risalgono alla prima met\u00e0 dell\u2019800. A partire dagli inizi del secolo scorso inizia anche l\u2019interesse per la componente abiotica del sito, con la misurazione dei dati relativi alle variabili chimico-fisiche dell\u2019acqua, come temperatura, salinit\u00e0, e ossigeno disciolto. Negli stessi anni iniziano i primi studi sulle popolazioni di alghe. A partire dalla seconda met\u00e0 del \u2018900, la conoscenza sulla struttura e la funzionalit\u00e0 del bacino si \u00e8 notevolmente ampliata con l\u2019estensione degli studi oceanografici ad altre variabili come i nutrienti e la clorofilla. Sono disponibili diverse serie di dati storici sui principali parametri chimico-fisici delle acque: le osservazioni frammentarie risalenti agli inizi del \u2018900 e i dati raccolti ogni quindici giorni a partire dagli anni \u201990 del secolo scorso fino al 2008, e a ritmo stagionale fino al 2009. Sono stati raccolti anche dati nel corso di progetti di ricerca specifici. Dal 2005 sono presenti quattro stazioni fisse per la registrazione della temperatura e nel 2017 \u00e8 stato realizzato un impianto pilota per la filtrazione, con l\u2019obiettivo di verificare se sia possibile bonificare le acque e i sedimenti dalle microplastiche.     <\/p>        <p style=\"text-align:center\">      <img decoding=\"async\"
